PRIOR TO LEGION FC: McMullen played for Casey Comets FC in the State League 2 South Australia. He has also trialed with Atlanta United 2 of MLS NEXT Pro and South Georgia Tormenta FC of USL League One. He was a four-year starter at Mercer University from 2021-2024 where he tallied 223 career saves across 66 matches with 21 clean sheets en route to leading the Bears to a pair of Southern Conference championships. He is the all-time leader in Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors with six, was twice named to the All-Southern Conference Team and his 1.08 goals against average ranks second in Mercer history.

PRIOR TO LEGION FC: After signing with the Real Salt Lake Academy in 2020, Delgado made history by becoming the youngest USL-C goalkeeper ever when he debuted in October 2021 at just 15 years old. Legion FC acquired Delgado on loan last April, where he started two matches in USL Championship play against Miami FC and Memphis 901 FC, and one match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup before the club recalled him in mid-May. In addition to making the bench for Real Salt Lake once in the 2024 campaign, the 6-foot-1 Delgado made 10 starts with Real Monarchs SLC.

Player Bio

2024: In a season that was thwarted by multiple injuries, Van Oekel was still able to post six clean sheets despite making just 23 appearances. It marked the sixth consecutive season that the veteran goalkeeper accounted for at least four shutouts.

2023: Posted five clean sheets across 26 matches, including a memorable outing in the opening round of the postseason where he held the Tampa Bay Rowdies scoreless on its home field in a 3-0 win.

2022: Saved a staggering 87 of the 122 shots faced in his 33 appearances and would go on to post a career-best 11 clean sheets.

2021: Appeared in 27 matches and was named the club’s Defensive Player of the Year with nine clean sheets to go along with 84 saves. Van Oekel additionally recorded his first career assist in a 1-0 victory over rival Memphis 901 FC at historic Legion Field on May 15.

2020: Accounted for four clean sheets in his 14 appearances during the COVID-shortened campaign.

2019: Signed with Legion FC ahead of the club’s inaugural season and was named captain. Finished fifth among all USL Championship goalkeepers with five clean sheets posted.

PRIOR TO LEGION FC: Van Oekel played collegiately at Longwood University in 2004 before transferring to Rutgers where he played from 2005-2007. After impressing coaches at an open tryout, the Chesapeake, Virginia-native signed his first professional contract in 2009 with the Minnesota Thunder in USL1 and stayed with the franchise as it transitioned to NASL and became the Minnesota Stars and Minnesota United. He played in 78 matches for the club and was a part of the title-winning squads in 2011 and 2014. He signed with NASL-side FC Edmonton in 2015 and would play two seasons north of the border, winning the NASL Golden Glove in 2016. Van Oekel jumped to MLS in 2017 with Real Salt Lake in 2017 where he featured in six matches. He then moved back to USL with OKC Energy FC in 2018.

2024: Missed much of the first half of the campaign due to a preseason injury. Came back to feature in seven matches with one shutout.

2023: Saw expanded time with 16 appearances (his most ever with the club) including all four during Birmingham’s run to the quarterfinals in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup where he posted two of his six clean sheets that season.

2022: Appeared in three matches with one clean sheet.

2021: Logged six matches between the sticks with one posted shutout.

2020: Made one appearance during the COVID-shortened season.

2019: One of Birmingham’s first ever signings, Spangenberg logged seven appearances with one clean sheet.

PRIOR TO LEGION FC: Spangenberg was a standout college player at Missouri State University, where he finished capped off his tenure as the school’s all-time career leader in goals against average (0.67) and led the Bears to the 2013 Missouri Valley Conference Championship. After college, he made the jump to MLS where he made one appearance with Chivas USA in 2014 before joining the New England Revolution the following year. He was loaned by New England to the Richmond Kickers in the USL. He then signed with NASL-side Puerto Rico FC for the 2016 and 2017 before rejoining Richmond in 2018.
