Legion’s W League team launched in 2023 to provide a new pathway for local, elite female players between college and professional soccer. In partnership with Birmingham United Soccer Association/Alabama Football Club, the team aims to identify and grow talent in women’s soccer. Built to spark passion for the game in a new generation and new group of fans, Legion WFC gives the Magic City a chance to show up for soccer in a new way.
Nathan Archard – Head Coach, Birmingham Legion FC USL W League
Nathan Archard is the Head Coach of Birmingham Legion FC’s USL W League team, a role he has held since 2023. He also serves as a coach with Alabama FC, where he has been part of the club since 2016.
Archard brings collegiate coaching experience from his time as an assistant coach with the women’s program at Young Harris College from 2014 to 2016. His background spans youth development through the pre-professional level, with an emphasis on player growth, competitive standards, and long-term development.
He holds a USSF A License and a USC Premier Diploma, reflecting his commitment to high-level coaching education and continued development within the game.
Janet Parks – Assistant Coach, Birmingham Legion FC USL W League
Janet Parks serves as Assistant Coach for Birmingham Legion FC’s USL W League team, supporting the club’s women’s pre-professional program. A former player in the U.S. Women’s National Team player pool, Parks brings high-level playing experience and valuable perspective to the team environment.
In her role, Parks contributes to player development, team preparation, and the creation of a competitive environment for athletes pursuing the next level.
Sean Doran – Assistant Coach / Director of Administration
Sean Doran serves as Assistant Coach and Director of Administration for Birmingham Legion FC’s pre-professional programs, which is a polished way of saying he knows the game, knows the paperwork, and somehow keeps everyone organized.
Known around the club as the resident soccer guru and Chief Pen Pusher, Sean is equally comfortable talking tactics, sorting schedules, chasing forms, and making sure the wheels do not fall off behind the scenes. Whether he is helping on the field or handling the details no one else wants to touch, Sean plays a key role in keeping the program moving in the right direction
