DR. AMIT MOMAYA, MD
Dr. Amit Momaya is a sports medicine surgeon and serves as section head of the sports medicine division within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has had extensive training in the care of patients with shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee injuries. He specializes in ACL injuries, meniscus and cartilage restoration, and labrum repairs.

Dr. Irfan asif, MS
Dr. Irfan Asif is a Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and specializes in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. He completed a fellowship at the National Institute of Program Director Development, and another at the University of Washington Sports Medicine. He was in residency and completed an internship at the University of Washington Family Medicine Residency after attending medical school at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
DR. MIKE JOHNSON, MD
Dr. Michael D. Johnson, M.D., joined the faculty of UAB’s Department of Surgery, Division of Orthopaedics in 2013. He received his medical school training here at UAB S.O.M., his residency in Orthopaedic surgery at the University of Tennessee and his fellowship at the University of Washington, Seattle.
Dr. Johnson received numerous honors, scholarships and awards during his training period, including the Thomas E. Rast Endowed Medical Scholarship at the UAB School of Medicine.
His clinical interest and specialty is diagnosis, treatment and therapy of foot and ankle disease, injuries, pain management—both non-operative and operative. In addition to his Orthopaedic training, Dr. Johnson is certified in Advanced Cardiac and Trauma Life Support.
DR. IAN McKEAG, MD
Ian McKeag, M.D., serves as the director for the UAB Department of Family and Community Medicine Sports and Exercise Medicine Fellowship. Originally from the Midwest, he has most recently relocated from the Cone Sports Medicine Fellowship in Greensboro, NC where he was trained in diagnostic and procedural ultrasound. In Greensboro, Dr. McKeag covered Guilford College athletics, Greensboro Swarm (NBA G League), Carolina Cobras (arena football), and local USA Gymnastics and USA Basketball events. He enjoys working with athletes of all levels, and integrating the diagnostic capabilities of ultrasound into the everyday sports medicine clinic.
