2024: Missed much of the first half of the campaign due to a preseason injury. Came back to feature in seven matches with one shutout.
2023: Saw expanded time with 16 appearances (his most ever with the club) including all four during Birmingham’s run to the quarterfinals in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup where he posted two of his six clean sheets that season.
2022: Appeared in three matches with one clean sheet.
2021: Logged six matches between the sticks with one posted shutout.
2020: Made one appearance during the COVID-shortened season.
2019: One of Birmingham’s first ever signings, Spangenberg logged seven appearances with one clean sheet.
PRIOR TO LEGION FC: Spangenberg was a standout college player at Missouri State University, where he finished capped off his tenure as the school’s all-time career leader in goals against average (0.67) and led the Bears to the 2013 Missouri Valley Conference Championship. After college, he made the jump to MLS where he made one appearance with Chivas USA in 2014 before joining the New England Revolution the following year. He was loaned by New England to the Richmond Kickers in the USL. He then signed with NASL-side Puerto Rico FC for the 2016 and 2017 before rejoining Richmond in 2018.
