
Birmingham Legion FC Confirms Eight Players to Return for 2026 Season.
The club has confirmed contract options exercised following the 2025 season, along with players already under contract for 2026.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Birmingham Legion FC today confirmed that five players will return to don the black and gold for the 2026 USL Championship season after the club exercised their contract options at the conclusion of the 2025 campaign. The decisions reflect the club’s commitment to continuity and maintaining a strong foundation as preparations for the upcoming season continue.
The following players will return to Birmingham for the 2026 season:
Position: Midfielder
Nationality: Australian
McIllhatton featured in midfield for Legion FC during the 2025 season, providing depth and versatility in central areas. He contributed in both defensive and possession-based roles and will remain part of the squad heading into the 2026 campaign.
Position: Midfielder
Nationality: Jamaican
A Jamaican international, Vassell brings experience at both the club and international level. He has featured in a variety of midfield roles and adds technical quality and physical presence to the group as Legion FC looks ahead to the upcoming season. Paterson is an American-born defender who has represented Grenada at the international level. He brings versatility across the back line along with physicality and experience within the defensive unit.
