BIRMINGHAM, AL (Nov. 20, 2021) – Birmingham Legion FC announced today that defender Phanuel Kavita has been named 2021 Team MVP.
Kavita, 28, joined the team in the 2021 preseason and immediately cemented himself as a cornerstone along the back line, earning the captain’s armband ahead of the first game of the season and his first game donning the Black and Gold.
The Democratic Republic of Congo product led the team in blocks this season (25), finished second in clearances (87), passes (1,402), aerial duels (99) and aerial duels won (54), third in minutes played (2,790), and fifth in interceptions (33).
