Safe to say Lapa took Birmingham, and the USL Championship, by storm in his rookie season, as he started every match for Legion FC on his way to being named to the All-League First Team. He also led the team in shots (26) and chances created (35), tied for the team lead in assists (5), and was second in goals (8).

Lapa earned USL Championship Player of the Week honors for his two-goal, one-assist performance in his first-ever competitive match in Black and Gold, at 3-1 BHM win on July 15 on ESPN2 versus Memphis 901 FC.

The Brazilian played college soccer at Wake Forest University from 2016 to 2019, and he made 80 appearances in four years, scoring 23 goals and adding 15 assists. He was the 2018 ACC Midfielder of the Year, a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, and a United Soccer Coaches and College Soccer News First Team All-American.

A native of Brazil, Lapa joined the Monteverde Academy in Florida after coming to the United States and helped lead the team to a 129-0-7 record and two national championships while in high school.
