St. Petersburg, FL- Birmingham Legion FC heads to St. Petersburg on Saturday to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium as the Black and Gold look to build off Wednesday night’s dramatic 4-4 comeback against New Mexico United. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT as Legion faces the Eastern Conference leaders on the road.

Legion enters Saturday’s matchup after fighting back from a 4-1 deficit against New Mexico United on Wednesday night. Ronaldo Damus sparked the comeback with a goal in the 77th minute before Gevork Diarbian brought Birmingham within one in the 87th minute. Damus then found the back of the net again in the 99th minute to complete the comeback and secure a point for the Black and Gold.
Romario Williams continues to be one of Legion’s biggest attacking threats, riding a six-game scoring run across his last five matches. Williams opened the scoring against New Mexico in the 11th minute, bringing his season total to seven goals and continuing his run of form in front of goal.
Tampa Bay enters Saturday sitting atop the Eastern Conference with 48 points. The Rowdies will be looking to respond after falling 3-1 to Hartford Athletic in their most recent match, setting up an important road test for the Black and Gold against the conference leaders.
The two sides previously met at Protective Stadium in March, with Tampa Bay earning a 1-0 victory. Legion will look to even the season series Saturday night and carry the fight it showed in Wednesday’s comeback into another challenging road matchup.
For fans back in Birmingham, Saturday’s match will be shown at Fairway Social for the official Legion watch party. The match will be on alongside college football, with $1 wings and $4 local beer available throughout the event.
