Birmingham, Al. – Birmingham Legion FC closed out its 2026, home season, Sunday afternoon with a 0-0 draw against Loudoun United at Dunnavant Valley Fields.
Legion controlled most of the match, finishing with 60.5 percent possession and an 18-13 advantage in total shots. Birmingham also generated 1.48 expected goals compared to Loudoun’s 0.52, but neither side was able to find the breakthrough.
“ For most of the game, I felt pretty in control,” defender Bryce Washington said of Birmingham’s performance.
Gevork Diarbian led Legion with four shots, including two on target, while Ronaldo Damus recorded three attempts. Dawson McCartney and Peter-Lee Vassell each created three chances as Birmingham continued to search for an opening goal.
“We played pretty well and tried to get one on the board, but it was just one of those games where we were a bit unlucky,” Diarbian said.
Birmingham’s defense held firm throughout the afternoon, limiting Loudoun to just three shots on target. Goalkeeper Jassem Koleilat recorded three saves to help secure the clean sheet.
Head coach Jay Heaps turned to his bench in the second half, bringing on Romario Williams and Tyler Pasher in the 66th minute before Sebastián Saucedo and Serge Ngoma entered later in the match as Legion continued to push for a winner.
“It’s tough, but we have two more chances this week to finish the season off strong,” Heaps said.
Despite outshooting Loudoun and creating the better chances, Birmingham was unable to find the decisive goal, earning a point in its final home match of the season at Dunnavant Valley Fields.
