Birmingham Legion FC returns to Protective Stadium on Saturday night, welcoming Sporting JAX to Birmingham for an important Eastern Conference matchup.

After a difficult road trip to Colorado Springs last weekend, the Black and Gold return home looking to respond in front of their home supporters. Legion held a 2-1 lead late in the match before Colorado Springs scored twice in stoppage time to hand Birmingham a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat.
Now, Legion has a chance to turn the page at home and Saturday’s match is about more than just the 90 minutes on the field.
The Black and Gold will celebrate Women in Sports Night, creating an opportunity to recognize the women who continue to shape sports both on and off the field. Before kickoff, six influential women in sports will take part in a special pre-match panel, sharing their experiences and perspectives from across the industry.
Fans can also get involved before the match with a youth soccer clinic led by UAB Women’s Soccer, giving young players the chance to learn from collegiate athletes and coaches before watching the pros take the field.
And for the first 1,000 fans through the gates, there’s an extra surprise: a Noigel bobblehead giveaway.
GAME MATCHUP
Sporting JAX makes the trip to Birmingham for the first meeting between the two clubs at Protective Stadium this season. The visitors enter their first USL Championship season as one of the league’s newest clubs, adding another new opponent to Legion’s schedule. Sporting JAX’s USL Championship schedule lists Saturday’s match at Protective Stadium with an 7:00 p.m. CT kickoff.
For Birmingham, the focus will be on setting the tone early and taking advantage of home-field advantage. After seeing a late lead disappear in Colorado Springs, the Black and Gold will look to put together a complete 90-minute performance.
