After battling to a 1-1 draw in Oakland on Wednesday, Legion will look to carry that resilience back to Birmingham and build momentum against one of the Eastern Conference’s top-performing sides. The Black and Gold showed their defensive organization and determination throughout the West Coast trip, holding a lead until stoppage time before ultimately sharing the points.
Now, with a home crowd behind them and a family-focused atmosphere at Protective Stadium, Legion will aim to continue climbing the Eastern Conference table.
Loudoun United enters the weekend as one of the surprise teams in the Eastern Conference, combining an aggressive attack with a disciplined defensive structure.
The Virginia side has consistently found goals throughout the season and enters the matchup among the conference leaders in scoring.
While the result in Oakland ended in a draw, Birmingham can take positives from the performance.
Peter-Lee Vassell scored his first USL Championship goal of the season, while Romario Williams picked up his second assist of the year. Defensively, Legion absorbed significant pressure and remained organized for much of the match despite Oakland controlling possession for long stretches.
The Black and Gold have also seen encouraging signs from several attacking players in recent weeks. Sebastián Saucedo has found the scoresheet in consecutive matches across all competitions, Tyler Pasher continues to create opportunities in the final third, and Samuel Shashoua has added creativity and energy to the midfield.
With a full week of matches behind them, Birmingham will look to turn strong performances into three points on Saturday.
Saturday’s match will feature a full day of family-friendly entertainment as Legion celebrates Father’s Day at Protective Stadium.
Fans can also enjoy Paw Patrol Night, with special appearances, a Father’s Day sock giveaway, and activities throughout the night, making it one of the club’s most family-focused events of the season.
Whether it’s cheering on the Black and Gold, celebrating dad, or meeting favorite Paw Patrol characters, Saturday’s match offers something for every member of the family.
