Game Day Media Liaison

About the Role
The Game Day Communications & Media Liaison is responsible for managing all media-facing operations on match days. This role focuses on hosting and supporting credentialed media, managing media logistics, handling live match updates, and ensuring all press operations run smoothly before, during, and after each match. The liaison represents Birmingham Legion FC to all working media and ensures a professional, organized, and efficient media experience.
Key Responsibilities
Media Hosting & Credentialing: Staff the media credential table; distribute credentials, pins, and match materials; check in approved media; manage late arrivals and walk-ups per policy; ensure media follow access guidelines.
Press Operations: Prepare and distribute match notes; assist with media seating, press box, and workroom needs; handle media questions and logistics throughout the match.
Live Match Updates: Live tweet match updates and key moments from the club’s official account or designated platform.
Writing & Reporting: Draft pre-game and post-game stories; compile quotes and key moments for recap use; assist with internal and league reporting needs.
Media Conferences: Help set up and run pre- and post-game press conferences; manage media seating and flow; escort coaches and players; coordinate microphones, backdrops, and timing.
Mixed Zone Support: Manage post-match interview zones; coordinate player and coach availability; ensure orderly media access.
Liaison Role: Act as the main point of contact between media, league officials, operations, and communications staff; resolve issues quickly and professionally.
Ideal Candidate
Strong writing and communication skills; interest in sports communications, journalism, or media relations; organized, calm under pressure, and detail-oriented; comfortable speaking with media and staff; professional appearance and demeanor; able to multitask in fast-paced environments; reliable and punctual; available nights, weekends, and match days.
Schedule & Commitment
Primarily home matches and special events; event-based, part-time scheduling; training provided prior to first match.
