Having launched in 2024, in partnership with Birmingham United Soccer Association and Alabama FC, Legion FC’s USL League Two team provides a new pathway for local, elite male players between college and professional soccer with a goal to identify and grow talent in the Birmingham soccer community.
USL League Two is a pathway to professional soccer to develop the next generation of talent on and off the field. Birmingham Legion FC 2 competes in the South-Central Division of the Southern Conference.
COACHING STAFF

Jay Hammond brings coaching experience across ECNL, WPSL, and USL W League environments to Birmingham Legion FC 2. A former collegiate player at Mississippi College, Hammond brings a strong understanding of the player pathway and the demands of the modern game.
As Head Coach of Legion FC 2, Hammond focuses on a transition-based style of play, player development, and preparing athletes for the next level within the club’s professional pathway.

Sean Doran serves as Assistant Coach and Director of Administration for Birmingham Legion FC’s pre-professional programs, which is a polished way of saying he knows the game, knows the paperwork, and somehow keeps everyone organized.
Known around the club as the resident soccer guru and Chief Pen Pusher, Sean is equally comfortable talking tactics, sorting schedules, chasing forms, and making sure the wheels do not fall off behind the scenes. Whether he is helping on the field or handling the details no one else wants to touch, Sean plays a key role in keeping the program moving in the right direction.

Mitch Register serves as Assistant Coach for Birmingham Legion FC 2, supporting the team’s daily training environment, player development, and competitive preparation. He works alongside the coaching staff to help create a professional and demanding environment for players within the club’s pathway.
