BHM's first USL Championship Playoffs match kicks off Wednesday at 6:00pm CT

Score First
North Carolina FC has only lost one game at WakeMed Soccer Park over the course of the season, with their 38 points earned at home being the second best tally in the Eastern Conference. Getting out in front first will be crucial for Legion FC, as it prevents the guys from having to chase the game in an already difficult environment to play in.

Scoring first makes NC have to force the issue, which would bring them out of their defensive shape as they push to find an equalizer. Additionally, it will allow Birmingham to build confidence throughout the contest and helps to remain sound positionally.

Control Possession
Controlling possession will be key for Legion FC in its meeting with North Carolina FC. Dictating the tempo pressures the hosts to play up to the black and gold’s speed and allows the boys to apply constant pressure to the NC backline.

Legion FC will need to put itself in a position where it is creating goal scoring opportunities consistently, and if possession is lost, then they will be able to press and defend in the opponent’s half and win the ball back in dangerous positions.

Enjoy the Moment
Birmingham heads to Cary, North Carolina, as the only expansion side in the Eastern Conference to qualify for the USL Championship Playoffs. The boys will be itching to carry their momentum from the second half of the regular season into the postseason and provide more unforgettable moments for Legion Nation.

After being given a five-percent chance of making the playoffs in July, the black and gold have silenced doubters and exceeded expectations to get to this point. Birmingham has shown it is capable of achieving great things and the boys are not satisfied or done yet, but the team has completed a playoff push that will make its run in the postseason one to enjoy.
