Legion FC has had to chase games as of late, with the pressure to push for an equalizing goal forcing the boys to open up and make themselves vulnerable to counterattacks.
Scoring first will put that pressure on North Carolina FC. On top of being able to perform with less pressure, bagging a goal before the visitors puts Legion FC in the driver’s seat and allows for more composure on the ball.
The boys have struggled recently with maintaining possession, as giveaways within their own half continue to hinder their performances. This was an issue against Riverhounds SC, and it played a major part in Legion FC’s loss that match.
Reducing the number of giveaways and maintaining possession of the ball will see Legion FC return to their best. Controlling possession translates to more chances created and more time for movement off the ball to create space to attack through.
Additionally, the energy that would be wasted on tracking back after a giveaway could then be put into attacking the opponent’s goal.
Feed off of the Crowd
Legion FC’s upcoming match against NCFC will be their first time playing in front of a home crowd in almost three weeks.
With some of their better performances occurring at BBVA Field, seeing and hearing the support from Legion Nation for the full 90 will be a welcome sight. Feeding off of the crowd’s energy and translating it into their game will give the boys that extra push when needed.
